We will do what it takes?

A link to an article By Simon in the SMH this morning talks about the all pervasive principle of the ‘end justifying the means’, or the “we will do what it takes” attitude around stopping the boats/ asylum seekers.

I also think this principle is widespread in terms of a one-eyed focus on metrics and money in many organisations.Recently I encountered the phrase “we will do whatever it takes” as the rallying call in an organisation. Perhaps we need to ponder this more and ask the question, what do we actually mean by this & importantly is there limits to this?
